The O'Neill-Shapiro Wedding

A note from the bride: I knew as soon as we got engaged that I wanted to do a small wedding in Positano. Our goal was to create a weekend that felt more like an incredible vacation with our closest friends than a wedding.

With any destination wedding there is an additional layer of logistics. Once you arrive you can't be everywhere and have control over every element. I had to learn to leave the running of events to the wedding coordinator and designer. From the moment I touched down in Italy I told myself to enjoy every minute and pretend to be a guest at my own wedding. The weekend goes by faster than you could ever imagine. Drink in each moment. Brett and I had the best time together and I wish we could do it all over again.

I tried to make special time for each of our guests throughout the four days. We had a small wedding, so it was easy for us to do this. They traveled so far to celebrate us and we wanted to make sure that they knew how much we appreciated that. We did photos before the ceremony, which allowed us to use the cocktail hour to say hello to everyone. This also let us enjoy our dinner without needing to make the rounds while everyone was eating.

My favorite moment was on the first day after our guests arrived. We had lunch together and afterwards everyone jumped into the ocean. We had this unplanned beach afternoon all together that was so special. It kicked off the weekend and set the mood for the rest of the weekend.
